Actor Tittensor hit outside court
Shameless star Elliott Tittensor has been attacked while coming out of court where he was fined for driving without insurance during a car accident which left a teenager in hospital.
The 20-year-old, who plays Carl Gallagher in the Channel 4 show, admitted the offence at Highbury Magistrates' Court.
Afterwards he was set upon outside by a grey-haired man in his 40s.
An onlooker said: "He was walking down the steps when a guy tapped him on the shoulder and just smacked him in the stomach all of a sudden. He came from nowhere; I don't know who he was."
Three policemen held the attacker on the ground and led him away down a nearby street. Neither Tittensor nor his girlfriend, 18-year-old actor Kaya Scodelario, who was with him, were injured.
Deborah Goodman, a publicist for Shameless, said Tittensor and Skins star Scodelario were both "really shocked" by what had happened.
The car accident left Oliver Flint, 18, with permanent eye injuries.
Tittensor was in the car with Scodelario in the early hours of August 15 when the accident happened outside a fast-food restaurant in Kentish Town Road, north London.
District judge Robin McPhee fined Tittensor £750 and gave him six penalty points on his licence.
