A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of preparing for acts of Syria-related terrorism.

They were detained at an address in Sparkbrook, Birmingham at around 7.30am, West Midlands Police said.

The 38-year-old man and 31-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of preparation for acts of terrorism.

Police say the operation was pre-planned and intelligence-led, and that there was no immediate threat to the public.
