Bodies found on boat in harbour

Two bodies have been found on a boat moored in a harbour.

The police said they were called to Whitby harbour at 9.55am after concern was raised for the safety of those on board.

They found the bodies of two people, who were pronounced dead at the scene.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Although the deaths are currently unexplained there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and no one else is being sought in connection with the incident."

The Health and Safety Executive and the Marine Accident Investigation Branch have been notified of the deaths.

The police said the next of kin have not yet been informed.
