Boris Johnson baffled by Gogglebox as Ukip leader Nigel Farage set to appear in "alcohol-fuelled" special
It's the programme that has revolutionised the way people across the UK watch television - but Boris Johnson hasn't heard of it.
Gogglebox features a regular group of opinionated couples and families discussing the week's shows - so it's us, watching them, watching television.
The Channel 4 show has been a surprise hit with some of the regulars becoming famous in their own right.
And now Ukip leader Nigel Farage is set to appear in an "alcohol-fuelled" Gogglebox special.
But when London mayor Boris Johnson was asked whether he would follow Mr Farage's lead - Boris Johnson appeared not to have heard of it.
Farage was filmed sitting on the sofa with the TV review show's "posh couple" Steph and Dom for the Gogglebox spin-off, Channel 4's chief creative officer Jay Hunt said.
She told Radio Times magazine that the show would be a "rip-roaring alcohol-fuelled watch.
She added: "He gets p***** with them, but they also give him a grilling."
The documentary special called At Home With Steph And Dom, will be broadcast next year.
When questioned about the show Mr Johnson said: "What is Gogglebox?"
"A gogglebox is a television, right? That's an old-fashioned word for a television," he told LBC Radio.
Once the concept of the programme had been explained to him, the London mayor said "perhaps" he would appear but insisted: "I don't watch much TV."
Previously in a Gogglebox special for Stand up To Cancer Noel Gallagher, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss all took part as they sat together in a living room discussing shows such as Strictly Come Dancing.
