Boy arrested in OAP murder probe
Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murdering a pensioner in his home.
The body of Llwelyn Thomas, 76, was found after police were called to his home in Ely Road, Chittering, Cambridgeshire, just after midday on Sunday.
Neighbours had reported concerns after noticing the retired farmer's lights had been on all night.
Detective Superintendent Jeff Hill said officers were keeping an open mind about the case but said one line of inquiry was that Mr Thomas died in a burglary which went wrong.
A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police said the boy was arrested on Friday afternoon and is currently being held in Parkside police station in Cambridge.
Father-of-one Mr Thomas was a widower who moved to Cambridgeshire from South Wales about 12 years ago.
He died from injuries to his face and head.
