Capital FM to broadcast nationwide
Radio station Capital FM is going nationwide.
The network, previously only available in London, will be broadcast across the country from 10am on Monday and is expected to reach more than 6.5 million people.
Ashley Tabor, founder of Global Radio, which owns Capital FM, said it was "a monumental day" for commercial radio.
He said: "The UK has never had a national commercial hits station before, this is game changing - another national brand, delivered locally, from Global Radio."
The last figures issued by radio body Rajar found Capital had a weekly reach of 2.12 million in London.
There has been speculation the station would hire Chris Moyles if he leaves Radio 1, but Mr Tabor appeared to rule that out last year.
Radio 2's Chris Evans said Moyles should leave the BBC and move to the commercial sector, but Tabor - a former flatmate of Moyles - said the DJ did not fit his "strategy" of developing new talent.
