Charles and Camilla on royals' card
A snowy image showing the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall on skis has been chosen as the royals' Christmas card picture this year.
At first glance the pair look like any other middle-aged couple taking advantage of the conditions to enjoy some winter sports.
Closer examination shows Charles dressed in a full tweed outfit of jacket and plus fours with a matching cloth cap while Camilla wears a hat, large scarf wrapped around her neck and a similar jacket to her husband.
The prince is an experienced downhill and cross-country skier who until recently regularly visited the Swiss resort of Klosters,
His wife, who is known to prefer walking, tried cross-country skiing for the first time last winter.
The picture comes from the royal couple's private collection and was taken during their stay at Birkhall on the Queen's Balmoral Estate in Aberdeenshire.
After heavy snowfall in the area Charles and Camilla went out on to the estate's private lands to try cross-country skiing, normally a favourite in Scandinavian countries.
A Clarence House spokeswoman said: "The opportunity arose for the duchess to try cross-country skiing and she enjoyed the experience."
