Ched Evans: Oldham Athletic 'is set to sign rapist footballer'
Rapist footballer Ched Evans could be about to return to the game after holding talks with Oldham Athletic about joining the club.
Last month Oldham insisted they would not be offering Evans a contract or an opportunity to train but it is understood further discussions have taken place since then.
Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) chief executive Gordon Taylor confirmed a League One side will hold a Press conference today in relation to the signing of the 26-year-old striker, but would not name the club involved.
Evans was released from prison in October after serving half of a five-year sentence for the rape of a 19-year-old woman in a hotel.
The ex-Wales international, who still protests his innocence, had an offer to train with his former club Sheffield United in November.
But following a backlash from Blades supporters, sponsors and patrons opposed to Evans's return - 160,000 people signed a petition against it - the club withdrew the offer.
