Clegg a hands-on father, says wife
Nick Clegg's wife says her husband "kills himself" to be a hands-on father - but he isn't too handy in the kitchen.
In a rare interview, lawyer Miriam Gonzalez Durantez gives some insight into the domestic life of the Deputy Prime Minister's family..
She told Grazia magazine: "We absolutely think it is right that our children come first. Nick kills himself to be able to do it all."
Ms Gonzalez Durantez, 43, who describes herself as a feminist and campaigns on women's rights with charities such as Oxfam, says: "I have three children (Antonio, nine, Alberto, seven, and Miguel, two), I have a busy career and I have a very busy husband.
"Yet my husband has three children, he has a much busier career than I have, and he has a busy wife. And nobody would ask him how he balances everything.
"For some reason there is a kind of assumption ... that it is my role to balance it."
But while he may do his utmost to be a good father, Ms Gonzalez Durantez says the kitchen is one part of the house where she does not expect to find the Deputy Prime Minister.
Asked about his talents as a cook, she said: "Please. Don't even mention the word."
The couple do try to share other duties, such as the school run.
Ms Gonzalez Durantez, a partner at global law firm DLA Piper, says: "Either one or the other (of us will take them) on different days."
