Crash passenger and unborn baby die

A pregnant woman and her unborn baby have died after a crash.

The 20-year-old, from the Tredegar area, was a passenger in a silver Peugeot 307 which was involved in a crash with a blue Peugeot 207 on the A465 between Brynmawr and Garnlydan at about 11pm yesterday.

A Gwent Police spokesman said t he woman was taken to Nevill Hall Hospital in a critical condition but "sadly she and her unborn baby have since passed away.

"The family of the deceased are now being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time."

Both the male driver of the Peugeot 207, who is from the Basingstoke area, and the male driver of the Peugeot 307 who is from the Tredegar area, are suffering from shock but they are uninjured, the spokesman added.

Gwent Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident and are looking for anyone who may have seen what happened to come forward.
