Drunk BBQ chefs cost £617m
Insurance firm MORE TH>N has revealed that drunk UK BBQ lovers caused £617million worth of damage to their homes over the past two years through hazardous al fresco cooking incidents.
This cost included damage to 1.5 million buildings or outdoor furniture fixtures as BBQ cooks failed to control billowing flames while they cooked their burgers and sausages under the influence of alcohol.
Women caused the most damage according to the findings with the average female BBQ claim amounting to £525.
Men claimed an average of £483 for their carelessness.
With a host of celebrations taking place around the UK this summer including the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics, MORE TH>N anticipates that there will a whopping 900,000 garden fires by the end of August.
