Ex-soccer coach Barry Bennell remanded on child sex abuse charges
Former football coach Barry Bennell has been remanded in custody charged with 12 child sex offences.
The 63-year-old appeared at South Cheshire Magistrates' Court in Crewe via video-link from prison on Monday accused of seven counts of indecent assault and five counts of buggery.
He will next appear at Chester Crown Court on March 22.
Bennell, who had a grey beard, spoke to confirm his name and age.
The former Crewe Alexandra coach, of no fixed address, now faces 20 sexual abuse allegations, having previously appeared in court charged with seven counts of indecent assault on a boy and one count of attempted buggery, which he denies.
All the charges will be dealt with together at Chester Crown Court at the next hearing.
The offences he was charged with on Monday relate to alleged incidents between 1980 and 1987, which were said to have occurred when the complainants were aged between eight and 14.
Eleven of the alleged offences are said to have happened in Derbyshire, while one is said to have taken place in Pwllheli, North Wales.
The new charges relate to three separate complainants.
