Four safe after balloon crash-lands
A hot air balloon seen "spinning uncontrollably" has crash-landed in sand dunes.
Four people were on board when the balloon had to make an emergency landing in the Crantock area of Newquay in Cornwall.
They were unharmed during the incident, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said.
The fire service was alerted to the incident at 8.09pm on Sunday by Newquay Airport officials, who had been in contact with the balloon.
A spokeswoman for Cornwall Fore and Rescue Service said: "One appliance with five firefighters from Newquay and an appliance with six from Perranporth were sent from the opposite direction. A Land Rover from Perranporth with three crews was also mobilised to give better off-road access to the balloon on landing.
"Once mobile to scene, fire crews could see the balloon descending and tracked it to the sand dunes between Perran Sands Holiday Park and the Golf Club. The balloon landed and the four persons on board fortunately were unharmed.
"Crews remain on scene investigating."
