The funeral of a 16-year-old boy who was fatally stabbed at an Aberdeen secondary school has been held.

Bailey Gwynne died of his injuries at hospital following the incident at the city's Cults Academy on Wednesday, October 28.

His funeral took place at Maryculter Parish Church, Aberdeenshire. A notice released earlier on behalf of the schoolboy's family described it as a private ceremony.

Following Bailey's death, floral tributes were left outside the school and special assemblies were held.

Hundreds of Bailey's friends and fellow students also previously attended a vigil at Cults Parish Church, where candles were lit and messages of condolence written.

Cults Academy was closed in the days following the incident but reopened on November 2.

As pupils returned to classes, Bailey's family thanked people for the support they received.

A 16-year-old boy from Aberdeen, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has appeared at the city's sheriff court charged with murder.

He was also charged with having a blade or point on school premises and remanded in custody.
