Girl, 7, dies and two adults seriously injured in 'tragic' collision

A seven-year-old girl has died and two adults are seriously injured in hospital after two cars collided.

The girl, and the serious hurt pair, a man aged 35 and a woman of 23, were in the same car in the incident in Crookilley Way, close to the M60 near Bredbury in Greater Manchester, police said.

Three people in the second car, a 31-year-old man and two children aged 11 and 9 suffered minor injuries.

Pc Paul Hailwood, from Greater Manchester Police's serious collision investigation unit, said: "A young girl has tragically lost her life and we are supporting the family at this very difficult time.

"It is very early stages but we are in the process of piecing together the circumstances that led to this tragic incident. I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision to speak to police."
