Hate crime probe after teenagers grab Muslim woman's headscarf and kick her
A Muslim woman was left crying and shaking after being approached by two strangers who pulled at her headscarf in the street before pushing her to the ground.
The victim, who is in her 20s, was treated for her injuries at the scene in Chingford, east London, on Wednesday evening.
The suspects, who were wearing black clothing, are described as white males, aged between 17 and 19.
Shortly after the incident the woman made her way to nearby Fes restaurant in a distressed state, owner Koksal Zeyrek said.
He said the woman told him and another worker: "Someone tried to take my scarf and they kicked me and I had an operation and I cannot move."
He added: "She was crying and shaking."
The suspects ran off in the north direction of Old Church Road, the Met said.
No arrests have been made and the incident is being treated as a hate crime.
