The NHS Choir have signed a Hollywood film deal to tell their story of success.

The choir gained notoriety when they beat pop star Justin Bieber to score the coveted Christmas number one spot last year. British producer Julia Verdin, whose past credits include The Merchant Of Venice starring Al Pacino, has secured the rights to tell their story.

The movie will feature the individual back stories of the 32 NHS staff members, documenting their journey to get their song A Bridge Over You to the top of the charts. Their cause was helped when Bieber tweeted his 80 million Twitter followers, telling them to "do the right thing" and help the choir reach the top of the singles chart.

Choir co-ordinator and children's physiotherapist Caroline Smith said: "We are thrilled that the world will now get to see our incredible story.

"People will see the massive power achieved when everyone comes together."
