Ill cleric John Sentamu's prayer plea to his flock
The Archbishop of York has evoked TV's Strictly Come Dancing series as he spoke of his recent cancer operation.
The Most Rev John Sentamu (64), the Church of England's second most senior cleric, urged members to "Keep praying!", telling them that he was "not yet out of the woods" after his prostate cancer surgery in May.
At the opening of the General Synod at York University, he said: "Thank you for all your prayers, cards and emails, I am not yet out of the woods but God has been gracious to me.
"I will know whether I need further treatment when I see the consultant surgeon towards the end of this month.
"All I can say is, as you hear on Strictly Come Dancing, keep praying."
