I'm more British than Ukip, says boxer Amir Khan
Boxing champion Amir Khan has said that he is "more British than Ukip".
The 28-year-old welterweight, who hails from a Muslim family of Pakistani origin, also spoke out against the radicalisation of young people from his community.
And the former two-time world champion and Olympic silver medallist called for British Muslims to "stand up and be counted" against extremism.
Asked if he is saddened by Ukip's growth in his home town of Bolton given the party's anti-immigration stance, Khan said: "I've got nothing but a lot of love here from a lot of people.
"But maybe it's because I'm probably more British than Ukip are because I represented the country in the Olympics."
