I've never been in love, says Emin

Controversial artist Tracey Emin has revealed that she has never been in love.

Writing in an article for the Sunday Times Magazine today, the artist said: "For years I had blamed this person or that for destroying me, for breaking me, for weakening my innocence, for making me cynical towards love, but it wasn't true.

"My heart had not been broken because I could feel it pounding inside me - a deep, surging ache, an overwhelming feeling of emotion. I realised that I had never actually loved properly before."

Emin, who recently won an outstanding achievement prize at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards, said there had only ever been three people in her life who she really cared about and that she remained good friends with them.

However the award-winning artist, who turned 50 last July, said that she still had hope that she would fall in love.

"I have more hope now then I have ever had in my life. Not just with the possibility of love, but with all things new," she says.
