Katherine Jenkins and Kirsty Allsopp beaten by mum Ashleigh Swan to working parent of the year title
A working mum-of-three from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne has beaten celebrities Katherine Jenkins and Kirsty Allsopp to winning the 'High Profile Working Parent of the Year' award.
Ashleigh Swan was recognised for her efforts on her website Ashleigh Money Saver, which helps people save cash.
The award was for a mum or dad in the public eye, who juggle parenting and alongside their working life.
As well as Allsopp and Jenkins, Ashleigh was up against UK Autism Ambassador and charity founder Anna Kennedy OBE and child developmental expert Dr Amanda Gummer in the public vote.
Ashleigh received her award at a glittering ceremony being held in London on Tuesday night from presenter and lingerie designer Caprice.
She said: "Juggling my Ashleigh Money Saver website with the children has become a way of life.
"The children are all involved and my youngest little girl even calls me 'Mammy Money Saver'. They know that almost everything we do is discounted or even free and they love it.
"I can't believe that I am up against such high profile, talented women and I am honoured to just get this far."
