Kings of Leon to headline festival

Kings of Leon will be one of the headline acts at next year's Isle of Wight Festival, it has been announced.

The US rockers will take to the stage on the Friday night in their only festival appearance of the year, according to the event organisers.

Other acts headlining next year's event are to be announced this week, as the festival gets set to celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2011.

John Giddings, the festival's promoter, said: "We are proud to bring one of the world's biggest rock bands to the island on our 10th anniversary.

"It is an incredible way to start the weekend, I can't wait."

The Tennessee four-piece will be in the UK to promote their fifth album, Come Around Sundown, which was their third consecutive album to debut at number one in the UK album charts upon release.

Tickets for next year's Isle of Wight Festival, which takes place from June 10 to 12 at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight, go on sale on Friday.
