Lorry death robbery: Man in court
A man will appear in court today in connection with a robbery in which a father of two was killed by a moving lorry after chasing robbers from his cash and carry store.
Farhan Sheikh, 38, of Barking, east London, has been charged with conspiracy to rob and will appear at Barkingside Magistrates Court.
A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and robbery last night and is being held an east London police station, Scotland Yard said.
Trader Shammi Atwal confronted gang members armed with metal bars and a sledgehammer and defended his wife during a robbery at their business in Barking on October 14.
Up to 10 suspects ran from the cash and carry shop and were followed by the victim.
Mr Atwal was pronounced dead at the scene. The lorry driver was not arrested.
Vidmantas Gonskoves, 26, of Plaistow, east London, and Aurimas Diliunas, 27, of Barking, have been charged with manslaughter and robbery. They will both appear at the Old Bailey on November 4.
