A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a two-year-old girl.

Kevin Park, 26, was held following the death of Madison Horne in Kelty, Fife, on Sunday.

He was charged with murder at Dunfermline Sheriff Court today.

Park made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody following the hearing.

Police were called to a property in the town's Croftangry Road at around 6.30pm on Easter Sunday.

Local people laid soft toys and flowers outside the home yesterday.

Park is scheduled to appear in court again next Wednesday.

Madison's family said in a statement: "Madison was a beautiful little girl who had a smile for everyone and a happy life ahead of her.

"She was a much-loved daughter who will be sorely missed by all who knew her. We would ask that our privacy be respected at this time to allow us to grieve."
