Man, 54, arrested in murder probe

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died having been wounded in a street.

Police were called at 2.45pm yesterday to reports of a man wounded in Lower Road in Tonge, near Sittingbourne, Kent.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "The man, in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin have been informed.

"A 54-year-old man from Teynham has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

"Officers are not looking for anybody else."
