Man arrested over stabbing of woman

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was stabbed at a house.

The 26-year-old was held following the incident at an address in Colehill Crescent, Bournemouth today.

The victim - a woman in her twenties - sustained serious stab wounds and was taken to Poole Hospital for treatment.

Dorset Police said it was not yet known whether the man in custody knew the injured woman.

The scene has been cordoned off while crime scene investigators carry out an examination.

Detective Inspector Joan Carmichael, who is leading the inquiry, said: "It is still early in our investigation.

"Any witnesses and anyone with information who has not spoken to police yet are urged to contact Dorset Police."
