Man charged over car crash deaths

A man has been charged after a young couple were killed in a car crash.

Carl David Wood, 27, of Farnworth, Greater Manchester, is accused over the deaths of Aaron Tulsa Jones and Amy Louise Hobson.

Mr Jones, 19, was driving a Vauxhall Corsa with 22-year-old Miss Hobson as his passenger on the A580 East Lancashire Road in Salford on Sunday afternoon.

At about 4.55pm they were involved in a crash with an Audi RS3 and an Audi S3 travelling eastbound along the A580, near the junction with Barton Road.

Mr Jones suffered multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Miss Hobson was taken to hospital but later died from her injuries.

Wood, of St James Street, Farnworth, has been charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and is due at Manchester City Magistrates' Court today.

A 25-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving remains in hospital for treatment and has been bailed while he receives treatment.
