A man has been charged in connection with the deaths of two young women in a crash, police have said.

Lily Butterfield-Godwin and Abbey Rogers, both 19, died when the car they were travelling in hit a wall in Gosport Lane, Lyndhurst, Hampshire, on December 13 last year.

James Battrick, 21, has been charged with two counts of causing death by careless driving while unfit through drugs, a Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said.

He is also accused of two counts of causing death by careless driving while over the drink-drive limit.

Battrick, of Cadnam in the New Forest, will appear at Southampton Magistrates' Court on April 23.
