A man has been charged with attempting to throw drugs in to a prison.

Jamie Ogbourne, 35, was arrested on Friday after officers spotted him outside HMP Bristol.

Avon and Somerset Police said they had since charged Ogbourne, of Brigstock Road, with two offences.

A force spokesman said: "He has been charged with attempting to throw a prohibited article, namely cannabis, into the prison as well as charged with being in possession of a controlled class B drug."

Category B HMP Bristol holds around 600 adult male inmates - both convicted prisoners and those on remand.
