Man charged with making explosives
A man has been charged with offences under the Explosives Act, police have said.
Phillip Leonard, 36, will appear before magistrates on Monday, accused of four offences of making explosives.
The charges followed a police raid on a house in Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset on Friday.
Residents were evacuated after a 100m exclusion zone was established around the property in Beatty Way. People were later allowed to return home after ordnance experts removed several items and declared the area safe.
Police said on Friday that there was no evidence at this stage to suggest that the matter was terrorist-related.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: "Police have charged a 36-year-old Burnham-on-Sea man with offences under the Explosives Act.
"Phillip Leonard, who has been charged with four offences of making explosives, is due to appear at Sedgemoor Magistrates' Court on Monday.
"He was arrested by police officers after the execution of a warrant under the Explosives Act at an address in Beatty Way on Friday morning."
