Man charged with murder of woman

A man has been charged with the murder of a woman found dead by police.

A member of the public living in Lark Rise in Martlesham Heath, Suffolk, called police at around 8.55pm last night reporting concerns for a person living nearby whose family could not get a response from the house.

Officers went to the house and found 39-year-old Jane Bartholomew dead inside the property, Suffolk Police said.

A post- mortem found that Ms Bartholomew died as a result of significant head injuries.

Police have tonight charged 42-year-old Scott Ellis from Tunstall Green, Tunstall, near Woodbridge, with murder.

Ellis will remain in custody at the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre and appear at Ipswich Magistrates' Court on Monday.
