Man dies in stolen car hit and run

A man has died after being hit by a stolen car as he walked along a pavement.

The man, 52, was walking in Forest Drive, close to Manor Park station in east London yesterday, when he was hit by a blue Ford Focus, Scotland Yard said.

The car, which had been reported stolen from the area, was found nearby but a man, believed to be the driver, had fled.

Police were called at 7.32am and a London Ambulance Service team arrived but the man died at the scene. His next of kin has been told but a formal identification has yet to take place.

No arrests have been made and d etectives are appealing for witnesses and information.
