Man facing double murder charge
A man has appeared in court charged with murdering his wife and mother-in-law.
Ensar Gol, 21, faced magistrates in Oxford accused of killing Michaela Gol, 28, and 50-year-old Julie Sahin on September 4.
Gol, a Turkish national, also faces a charge of the attempted murder of Casey Wilson, 19, who is a friend of his wife's family.
Miss Wilson remains in hospital receiving treatment for her injuries.
Gol, who wore a dark blue polo shirt, light coloured trousers and blue trainers, was escorted into court room one by two dock officers.
Through a Turkish interpreter, Gol spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth during the brief hearing.
Sarah Mackay, prosecuting, told the court: "Mr Gol is charged with two counts of murder and one of attempted murder. He has no right to apply for bail in this court and I invite the court to send this matter to Oxford Crown Court."
Ms Mackay added: "Ensar Gol is a 21-year-old Turkish national and has only just recently entered the UK."
Gol, of Ireton Court, Thame, Oxfordshire, was remanded into custody and told to appear before Oxford Crown Court on September 7.
David Simmons, chair of the bench, said: "You are being sent for trial at Oxford Crown Court under Section 51 of the Crime and Disorder Act, 1998. This is for the offences of two murders and one attempted murder. You are being remanded into custody today to appear before Oxford Crown Court tomorrow, Wednesday September 7 at 10.30am."
