A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of Syria-related terrorism offences.

The suspect was detained by officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit at an address in Billesley, Birmingham, at around 7am today.

West Midlands Police said: "The action was pre-planned and intelligence-led. There was no immediate threat to public safety."

The man, from Yardley Wood in Birmingham, was arrested on suspicion of preparing for terrorist acts, contrary to Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.
