Man held following ‘acid attack’ which left pair with ‘life-changing’ injuries

Two men were taken to hospital after a noxious substance was thrown at them on Tuesday.

A man has been arrested following an “acid attack” in east London which left two people with “life-changing” injuries, Scotland Yard said.

Two men were taken to hospital after a noxious substance was thrown at them on Tuesday.

The pair, aged 23 and 24, flagged down police at around 7pm near Roman Road, Bethnal Green.

The Metropolitan Police said: “Whilst their condition is not being treated as life-threatening it is being treated as life-changing.”

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent on Thursday.

He remains in custody at an east London police station.
