Man held in teenager murder probe

A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a teenager whose remains were found on farmland 10 years after she vanished.

Vulnerable sex worker Rachel Wilson, 19, was last seen in the Woodlands Road area of Middlesbrough in May 2002.

Her remains were discovered in a secluded location at Newham Hall Farm on the outskirts of the town in June 2012.

Her family, who have appealed in the past for the public's help in finding her killer, have been informed of the arrest, Cleveland Police said.

Speaking at a press conference in 2012, her mother, Tina Wilson, said: "For the last 10 years we've been sure she'll come in the house. On Friday we found out she wouldn't.

"All I'm asking for is somebody that knows, come forward and let us know and let us find out what happened to Rachel.''
