Man held over 'terror publication'

A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of distributing a terrorist publication, according to police.

West Midlands Police said officers from the regional counter-terrorism unit detained the man on suspicion of the offence, contrary to Section 2 of the Terrorism Act, at his home address at 7am today.

A force spokesman said: "This intelligence-led operation relates to the supply of a suspected ideological text - not an operational manual such as bomb-making instructions.

"The arrest was not made in response to any immediate threat to public safety."

The police added that the property in Dudley, in the West Midlands, is still being searched by officers.
