A man has been jailed for two years for the manslaughter of his daughter who contracted swine flu and died after she was seriously injured when he shook her.

Benjamin Curtis, 30, admitted the charge at Guildford Crown Court, in Surrey, on the morning when his trial was due to begin.

Mr Justice Nicol told Curtis, of Eastbourne, East Sussex, that the results of his shaking Ocean Elliott were "catastrophic".

The court heard that Curtis had already served a term of 20 months imprisonment for assault, imposed before Ocean died.
