Men found dead after house fire
Police have launched a murder investigation after two men were found dead in a suspicious house fire.
The two men, one thought to be in his 50s and the other believed to be in his 40s, were found dead at an address in Penton Rise in Islington, north London.
Police, who said the deaths are being treated as suspicious, were alerted by the London Fire Brigade (LFB) of the discovery on January 2 at about 7.20pm..
Both the LFB and the Metropolitan Police are investigating the cause of the fire. The next of kin have yet to be informed and a formal identification is still to be made. No arrests have been made.
Detective Chief inspector Glen Lloyd of the Homicide and Major Crime Command said: "I would like to appeal to anyone in the Penton Rise area who has seen or heard anything unusual between 5-8pm to contact police immediately. Two men have died and my team are eager to hear from anyone who was in the area or passing by before or just after this fire started.
"If you were in the area at the time, you may well have witnessed what occurred or seen something that could assist our investigation."
