Mother and young son found dead

Police have named a mother and son whose deaths are being treated as suspicious.

Angel Hudson, 26, also known locally as Katie, and her son Arthur Hudson-Cardy, aged 22 months old, were discovered when officers were called to an address in Princess Way, Euxton, Lancashire, at about 6.55pm yesterday.

Detectives are treating the case as a murder inquiry but are not looking for anyone else over the deaths.

It is understood that one line of inquiry is that Ms Hudson killed her son and then took her own life.

Post-mortem examinations are due to take place to establish the causes of death of the pair.

Detective Superintendent Eddie Thistlethwaite, of Lancashire Constabulary, said: "This is a tragic case. It is being treated as a murder inquiry, although we are not looking for anybody else in connection with this incident.

"We are still in the very early stages of this investigation but we are conducting a number of inquiries in order to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths."
