Mother charged over boy's death

The mother of a two-year-old boy who died from methadone poisoning has been charged with manslaughter.

Kelly Emery, of Gravelly Hill, Erdington, Birmingham, will appear before magistrates in the city today charged with killing Fenton Hogan.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said Emery, 32, has also been charged with an offence of child cruelty.

Fenton died in July last year after being found collapsed at his home in Frankley, Birmingham.

A post-mortem examination later revealed he died from methadone poisoning.
