Mother held over girl's crash death

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect and causing death by dangerous driving after her two-year-old daughter was killed in a car crash.

The toddler, who has not been named, was confirmed dead in hospital despite efforts to revive her following the crash in Selly Oak, Birmingham.

Paramedics treated four adults for minor injuries after the car they were travelling in struck a wall and a tree in Gibbins Road shortly before 4pm yesterday.

West Midlands Police said efforts to resuscitate the two-year-old girl, a back seat passenger, were made by witnesses and paramedics.

Police are appealing for witnesses, and anyone who saw the collision is asked to call the Collision Investigation Unit on 101.
