A murder inquiry has been launched after a man died following a stabbing.

Gloucestershire Police said the man was believed to have received a stab wound to the leg during an incident at a flat in Archdeacon Street, Gloucester.

Police were alerted by the ambulance service shortly before 5pm and the man, who has not been identified publicly , was pronounced dead at the scene an hour later.

Archdeacon Street, close to the city centre, is overlooked by Gloucester Cathedral.
