Murder probe after woman attacked

A murder investigation has been launched after a 26-year-old woman died of multiple injuries.

Sannah Javid was taken to hospital after police officers were called to a flat in Green Lane, Ilford, east London, on Tuesday evening. She died in King George Hospital the next day.

Police said a 37-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder was in custody at an east London police station.

Police believe Ms Javid knew her attacker and Detective Chief Inspector Tim Duffield of the Metropolitan Police Homicide and Major Crime Command said: "We are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard something suspicious on the evening of Tuesday, December 2, to call the incident room at Hendon."

Anyone with information should call 020 8358 0400. To remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
