Nightclub acid attack trial date for ex-boyfriend of TV’s Ferne McCann
Arthur Collins is charged with 14 counts of grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of throwing an acidic liquid with intent to do GBH.
The former boyfriend of reality TV star Ferne McCann is to face trial on October 9 charged in connection with an acid attack at an east London nightclub, a judge has ruled.
Arthur Collins, who is also the father of McCann’s unborn child, and co-defendant Andre Phoenix appeared via videolink during a preliminary hearing at London’s Wood Green Crown Court.
They were charged after an incident on Easter Monday which left two revellers partially blinded and others disfigured.
Collins is charged with 14 counts of grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent against four men and 10 women, and one count of throwing an acidic liquid with intent to do GBH to multiple people.
The 24-year-old, of Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, only said the word “yes” when the judge spoke to both defendants at the end of the brief hearing.
No pleas were entered.
Judge Peter Ader told both men: “You have a date for your case now. The trial date, which you will be most interested in, will be the 9th October.
“In the the meantime, your lawyers will come and see you. There will be other hearings, but you will be (attending) via video link.”
Clubbers were doused with a corrosive substance at the Mangle nightclub in Dalston on April 17.
Phoenix, 21, of Clyde Road, Tottenham, is charged with seven counts of throwing a corrosive fluid with intent to do GBH to three men and four women.
Both defendants had family members looking on from the public gallery.
The trial at Wood Green Crown Court is estimated to last two weeks.
Both men are next to appear at the same court on June 13.
In a previously released statement McCann, 26, best known for her appearances on The Only Way Is Essex and I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!, said her thoughts are with the victims of what she described as the “horrific” nightclub attack.
