Nottingham’s Robin Hood loses his ‘perfect’ Maid Marian to cancer
Tim Pollard, who plays the famous outlaw at Nottingham city events, confirmed that his wife Sally died on Friday.
Nottingham’s official Robin Hood has paid tribute to his “perfect” Maid Marian wife after she died from breast cancer.
Tim Pollard, who plays the famous outlaw, confirmed that wife Sally Pollard, 39, died on Friday.
The couple met when Mr Pollard was in need of a Maid Marian and asked the then Sally Chappell, who was also into re-enactments.
Mr and Mrs Pollard, who have a three-year-old daughter, Scarlett, were married in Buxton, Derbyshire, last year, with guests including the Pied Piper of Hamelin.
Paying tribute, he said: “Please raise a glass and a smile to the most wonderful person I have ever met; a great woman, mother, daughter, sister, friend, teacher, scientist, colleague and wife.
“And the perfect Maid Marian. I will love and miss her forever, as will we all.”
Mrs Pollard was diagnosed in July 2015 but continued to work as lecturer and researcher in human molecular genetics at the University of Nottingham and as Maid Marian since the devastating news.
