Christmas presents bought for nurses have been stolen from one of London's busiest hospitals.

The Metropolitan Police appealed for information following the theft at St George's Hospital in Tooting, south London, in which gift vouchers, champagne and chocolates were taken from a room at the nurses' station.

Officers received reports of the burglary from the Haematology Department at 11:26am on Wednesday, with the theft believed to have taken place between 6pm on Tuesday and 7:15am on Wednesday.

Anyone with any information about the theft at the hospital, which features in the Channel 4 programme 24 Hours in A&E has been asked to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
