Officer charged over 'racial abuse'
The Scotland Yard officer accused of racially abusing a suspect during last summer's riots will appear in court next month.
The police watchdog served a summons on Pc Alex MacFarlane after being told by prosecutors to charge him with a public order offence.
The Crown Prosecution Service reviewed footage appearing to show him say to 21-year-old Mauro Demetrio: "The problem with you is you will always be a n*****, yeah?"
MacFarlane, 52, will appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on May 22, the Independent Police Complaints Commission said.
