Over 10 million see spooky Strictly

The Halloween-themed Strictly Come Dancing show had an average audience of 10.2 million viewers, or a 42.7% share, the BBC said.

The 15 minute peak for the BBC1 programme at 7.45pm saw a figure of 11.3 million, or a 45.9% share, and the five minute peak at 7.55pm saw 11.5 million viewers, or a 46.8% share.

A BBC spokeswoman said: "We are delighted that more and more viewers keep tuning in to watch Strictly Come Dancing."

During the show, actress Chelsee Healey cried after she suffered a "wardrobe malfunction".

The Waterloo Road star was visibly upset after dancing a tango with her dance partner Pasha Kovalev, but one of the show's hosts, Tess Daly, told her afterwards: "We saw nothing."

There have already been comments about how Healey's outfits are perhaps the BBC TV programme's most daring ever.

One of the judges, Craig Revel Horwood, told her: "You coped with the wardrobe malfunction quite well, but it did throw you, that's why it was a bit of a mess towards the end."

Another judge, Alesha Dixon, said: "It didn't distract from the dance at all."

The dancers' tango to Love Potion No. 9 received one of the best scores of the evening, 32 out of a possible 40.

Lowest score of the night went to Nancy Dell'Olio, who with partner Anton Du Beke collected only 14 points.
