Pair charged with monkey cruelty
Two people have appeared before magistrates charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a juvenile monkey at their home.
Lee Powell, 50, and Julie Jones, 41, both denied four charges brought under the Animal Welfare Act during a brief appearance at Dudley Magistrates' Court.
The defendants, both of Sunderland Drive, Amblecote, Stourbridge, West Midlands, are alleged to have failed to ensure the needs of a marmoset-type monkey were met between March 1 and June 15 this year.
Powell and Jones, who are being prosecuted by the RSPCA, were granted unconditional bail to appear for trial at the same court on December 13.
